I am SO excited to have finally posted this project! This is my butcher block coffee table. This labor of love has been finished and in its new home (in my living room) for a few weeks now, and we love it!Pretty excited that it started off as this pile of wood!I'm going to provide an overview of my process here, but please make sure to check out the original tutorial on my blog, which is linked at the end of this post! It includes all of the detailed steps and bits of advice along the way.
Here's how I got started. Edge gluing these bad boys together in groups of 3 or 4.As the groups of boards dried, I continued gluing them together. Finally, I had a group of 7 boards and a group of 5 boards.
We then ran each group of boards through a planer. The planer was only big enough to fit 7 boards, or else we would have just planed the entire finished table as one piece.Once we'd planed both pieces, we glued them together to form the table top and cleaned up the edges.I stained it and gave it two coats of polyurethane. Then I attached some lovely steel a-frame legs. For more details on this project, check out the full post at my blog below. Lots of tips and lessons learned a long the way, including some tricks for edge gluing your boards. This was a tougher and more time-consuming project than I thought it'd be, but I am thrilled with the result!Original article and pictures take http://www.hometalk.com/13917877/my-butcher-block-coffee-table-from-scratch site
