We have access to wood that is over 150 years old. Me and my extended family tore a house down maybe 30 years ago? Me and my hubby have used some of the wood already. We built a gorgeous mantle for the fireplace of our last house and since we've moved we've used 1 massive door for our potrack in our redone kitchen. We put beams on the wall in our living room and hung two more of the doors next to those. And now, drum roll....my ambitious hubby is making us a dining room table out of some of the gorgeous heart pine we saved. We haven't gotten far yet. Sanding, planing and arranging. As it progresses I will shall our work. I say our because I'm at the other end of each piece of wood :) Here below is our load we brought homeAnd here is hubby's design.
And here are our selected pieces for the top (plus two to still be added one to each end going in the opposite direction. That's it so far. I hope there is more to show by the end of the week. The wood is so pretty. Love heart pine!
It's is looking fabulous! I'm not a fan of light wood, but my husband wants all the grain to show on this project so we are going with a slightly tinted glossy poly. It still has a couple of coats to go but we are thrilled with it so far.
Here it is with just a little tint to it.
And here is the base getting it's first sealer coat. Is my hubby fab or what!
