Faux Marble Painted Countertops

I am so thrilled to share with you how my faux marble countertops turned out!!

Here are the steps I took:
1. Deglossed the counters using a liquid sander, then wiped clean
2. Primed the counters using Stix primer
3. Painted over primer with a white flat paint with a foam roller
4. Sponge over paint to soften lines
5. Dampen sponge and lightly add black paint
6. Lightly sponge on more white paint
7. Using an artist brush, create veins with black paint
8. Using a spray bottle, spray water onto the black veins
9. Lightly soften lines with sponge and white paint
10. Repeat steps until desired look is achieved
11. Allow to dry to the touch
12. Mix 1 part paint to 3 parts water so paint is nice and thin
13. Spread paint mixture over top of counter with a flat stick or foam brush
14. Seal using Giani top coat
15. Seal around sink with silicone

I researched so many different ways of doing countertops. I considered an oil based paint, epoxy or Ardex feather finish for a faux cement top. I explain on my blog why I chose to go the latex route instead!
Here are some before and during shots:
