Union Jack School Desk.

I love a good trash to treasure project, and this was precisely that.

My neighbor pulled this desk out of the trash at the school where she works.

It was literally labeled as 'trash'. Don't you just love a neighbor who thinks of you when she sees good trash?

I cleaned this up, sanded down the top and got painting. I chose to use Fusion paint on this project because it adheres to a shiny surface better than milk paint (my usual paint of choice). You could probably use chalk paint successfully here as well. The Fusion paint will be fully scrub-able once it's cured though. I painted the blue first, then taped off the white and added it ...

Then finally taped off the grey and added it. These sorts of projects aren't time consuming as far as time spent actually doing them, but it is the waiting in between steps for paint to fully dry (and do be sure it's fully dry before taping for the next color) that adds up. But it's worth it!

I also painted inside the cubby. It was kind of gross, and this way the new owner of this desk can feel good about storing stuff inside.

This would make an awesome bedside table, don't you think?
