"Refinishing furniture doesn't have to be expensive. It's not hard. And your piece doesn't always have to be used for what it was originally intended for."
-Carrie, Thirty Eighth Street
Sometimes it pays to think outside the box!Would you like to see what I started with? How many curbside, white paper and a sharpie marked "FREE" jewels have you bumped into? Usually they are missing drawers, knobs or have a rough finish. And to the untrained eye, they look unfixable. In my case, my jewel was a six drawer dresser that was missing a few drawers.
That's okay, I liked it better as a console anyway. ;) Without too much effort we trimmed down the middle support, removed the bottom drawer brackets and filled in any holes or scuffs with wood filler. Once we removed the dust, she was given two coats of Chalky Finish paint by DecoArt, Inc.
Then, we turned this junk pile of of old wood into some pretty sophisticated and modern details for our drawer fronts.
In no time at all, we transformed a dumpster dive into a statement piece with some free scrap wood and paint! Stop by and visit us to see just how easy it was!
Bye-bye boring six drawer dresser... Hello eye-catching smexy drawer fronts!
