My master bedroom is anything but "master" like. It's actually our spare room that we use as our master because we felt that because we aren't ones to "hang out" in our bedroom the larger bedroom could be utilized better for something else so we use the smaller of the bedrooms as our master. It fits our needs and it is very small but over the years I have managed to pair down my decor, paint the furniture white, and add touches of the outdoors from both thrifted paintings and other decor to give it an airy cottage feel. You can see more photos and the other transformations it's been through over the last few years on my blog.My bed was a Faux cherry wood along with the bedside tables my parents bought us as a house warming gift years ago. I painted them with a white chalk paint from Walmart.
The lamp shades were thrifted, the painting above the bed is from Kirklands. I really like original art but much of my house is filled with the outdoors and this painting of Aspens was so pretty and complimented above the bed and the color scheme. It was on clearance for 20 bucks.

I found these original vintage (done in 1952) paintings from a local artist at the Goodwill. Why anyone would give these beauties up is beyond me. I had thought about painting the frames white but the frames are actually very nice and compliment the paintings well. Plus I loved the sort of rustic feel.
One day I will get around to painting our trim around the window but for now it's there and it actually doesn't look to bad mixed with the wooden frames in the room.
These small watercolor paintings I also thrifted years ago. I have a small stash of thrifted art work I like to keep and whenever I find an original painting of someone's that I find admirable I will pick it up whether I have a place for it or not because I know with as much I love change one day they will be used. : )
Yes, there is a big ugly television in my room. It's the only t.v. in our home as of right now. The family room is being remodeled and the kids use their kindles or computers to watch Netflix. I wish I had room for a beautiful cabinet to put it in but I don't so for now it sits on a dresser I thrifted for 15 bucks and painted white with a green stain for the drawers.
