Inlay Stencil Table

I purchased this table and two chairs from TROSA a huge thrift shop. The table was pretty damaged and was not in good shape structurally.

I have a certain love for gate leg tables because they don't take up a lot of space when you don't need them to.





I decided to paint and stencil these pieces but this posting is going to concentrate on the table. I sanded it down and painted it with gray primer.





I had painted the chairs black and then the top of the table and when I sat down to take a break and took a look at it I realized that I really like the two tone effect and I did not like the chairs in black. (my safe color)





I decided to paint the chairs red, the bottom of the table purple and the top black. I used the sample sizes of the red and purple and absolute flat black paint for the top





and you wonder where I got the color combo from right? It came from a print of a painting I have in the room





I used three stencils from Nicolette Tabram an artist in the UK.and I just went around the table layer by layer. I used the same purple as the base starting with a thin border





adding a wider border





threw in a little red punch in the mix





and then left the inside open and added a larger design that I did two-tome





then I added a little background to that





I also stenciled the sides and legs





And this is the result





I think it came out very elegant!
