We found an old non-functioning clock in a thrift shop, and upcycled it into something special for spring! We removed all the inner workings, and saved them for other projects down the road. Then we scraped off what remained of the decal on the glass door.
Next we painted the inside a pale blue. Then we found a painting of a sunset online and copied it onto a Word doc, printed it out, cut it to size, and pasted it inside. We did the same, using a mountain scene, for the lower half.
At the bottom of the clock we glued some moss. We bought a bird magnet at a gift shop and hot-glued it to the sky. During a walk with our dogs, we picked up a twig and broke it into the right size to simulate a branch.
Above is the small bird's nest Rhiann found last year. It had blown out of its tree during a storm. Isn't that blue thread the perfect touch? Some little birdy had an eye for design...
We rested the nest in the fork of the twigs and used a dab of hot glue to secure it. That's it. Done! Here's a pic with the door open so you can see it more clearly.
And here it is with the door closed.
We always like to share a cute pic of our terriers when we post, so here you go. This is Daisy, looking sleepy.
And Buster, deep in thought.
We hope you'll come see us on our blog. There's a home tour and other DIYs, recipes, etc.
